Umi Sushi in Shelby Township

Umi was hopping tonight. Fast friendly service and so tasty. We're vegan and find plenty of choices!

I come here often with my sister and my brother and they never fail to impress. The sushi is absolutely amazing and the staff are very friendly. It's a nice quiet atmosphere.

I semifrequent the spot and absolutely love their sushi options! Every day there is a roll that you can buy one get one free, which will typically net you 12 pieces total (6 per roll).When they sit you down after getting drinks they will usually start you off with a portion of miso soup, giving you enough time to go over their variety of sushi options. A good roll for a special occasion that I usually get is the Lobster Delight, which is a sweet and savoury roll, but can be a bit expensive.When you get your plate of sushi any toppings are decoratively arranged such that the presentation is quite nice. There is a good bit of mild wasabi and ginger to add to your rolls.Overall Umi Sushi is a great place to go on a date or for a special occasion. Treating your loved one to this unique spot is very nice because of the lovely atmosphere and nice local vibe.The food is always great and the servers are prompt and friendly.

Liked the sushi, definitely fresh. Thought the specialty rolls were pricey (I got the dynamite roll) but good. Will have to try the buy one get one next time. I'm picky with sushi, but this is decent for the area, which has slim sushi pickings...

Very impressed with their sushi selection and quality. Very busy for lunch and I understand why now. They also run multiple specials as well. Service was top notch. Will return if I'm back in the area

Been going here for years. Best sushi restaurant in the area! Plus they have buy one get one free rolls which you can't beat. The chicken udon and teriyaki is also the best.

If you are looking for low-end service, and mid-grade (at best) sushi, this is it! Better customer service at the Walmart self- checkouts, and that is being generous! If I ever want to bob for apples in the toilet again, I will check out the Kroger premium sushi.

The food is good. You diffently dont get big rolls. Been there twice and my bill alone is $35 everytime

Soup and salad are spot on. Very fresh.They were always right on top of the Refills. Service was very good. My husband had the beef teriyaki stir fry and he had a huge smile on his face while eating it. He said it was very very good and so fresh. The meat was perfectly tender. I had spicey salmon and a yum yum roll. OMG!! Salmon was so fresh and delicious. Yum yum roll was perfect. Made my taste buds sing! We will definitely be returning!! Great job guys, please keep you the great work!

Staff was very friendly. Shrimp tempura sushi and udon were awesome (came in super hot though - don't burn your mouth!).

You would never notice the place without looking for it, kind of a secret spot. Super friendly people here, they tolerated the copious amounts of questions from the table next to me well. Plan on legit Japanese food and some very well prepared sushi. Cool decor too

Stopped in for lunch with/a colleague. Good service, clean. Great Hello Kitty decor above the sushi bar. I just returned from two weeks in Japan and what I had here measured up - lunch sushi and sashimi special.

Place came highly recommend from my co-workers and haven't had a chance to make it until recently. Wasn't disappointed, Firet time having a"Crunchy California Roll" which was not what I thought we were getting, but happy with it anyhow. The Ginger dressing 9n the salad was more of a puree, nothing wrong with it, only noting it because it was different. Overall we'll definitely go back, and will certainly stop for take out on my way home from work.

I was beyond shocked when the woman who took my cash and coins with her bare hands and stepped right over to the cutting board and started cutting lettuce without washing her hands or putting on gloves. Just started handling food without any thought of hygiene or sanitation - disgusting and beyond irresponsible of her to handle food like this.

Seriously the best experience. This place will open your mind to all the wonderful types of sushi out there, without having to get on a plane to Japan. I try something new every time I come here and enjoy it in the most peaceful atmosphere you could imagine.

We do carry out almost once a week and they do a great job. My personal favorites are the yum yum and fiesta rolls. Quality sushi fast service and pretty reasonably priced. Love me some UMI Sushi!

First place I tried Sushi. I work in the Industrial Complex up the street. The service is fast and friendly. The tea and the miso soup are both fantastic. They have a great and tasty selection of sushi and dishes. My standard order is an order of and Eel Crunch Roll and a Dragon Roll.

Nice place and very good food! The service was very good and quicker than most sushi places I have been.

It was good. I liked the twister roll. Good fish to rice ratio, I don't like it when the rolls are mostly rice.
